OFSTED Inspection: We have received the results of our recent inspection. Read the outcome letter here. »
We had another very enjoyable day in Year One last week! Our learning has been based on a book called ‘Rosie’s Walk’ by Pat Hutchins. Once we read and explored the text, we used role play to act out scenes from the book in pairs, one person being the fox and the other the hen.
Next, we all became the foxes and we went on a hunt around the school to fine Rosie, who kept running away from us to new hiding places! We had to follow instructions which used positional language which we have been learning about in our Maths lessons. The hunt was very exciting and we visited areas of the school we have not been to before, we even got a peep in the staff room!
We drew maps for the route Rosie took in the story book and also created paintings of our favourite parts of the story which we will put together to make a class story map.
Children also sequenced pictures from the journey they took when chasing Rosie around the school. We also identified human and physical features on our walk.
Finally, we made a video to share our learning with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed taking part in the activities.
