Wow!  What a week!  Science week was full of fantastic, lifelong learning and awe-inspiring experiments.  All the children thoroughly enjoyed the range of investigations we conducted and were fascinated by the interesting results we collected.

The week started with our ‘Big Bang’ experiment where we used alka-setzas and water to produce a chemical reaction and shoot our canister rockets into the air.  We then conducted an amazing (but very gross!) experiment to explore the function of the large intestine and see how it absorbs all of the goodness from food and produces waste.  Another highlight was being visited by an Equine Dentist who gave an engaging presentation about the importance of looking after our teeth, followed by our own teeth related investigation with disclosure tablets showing exactly how to clean our teeth effectively.

Furthermore, we also conducted an observational experiment looking into the long term effects different liquids can have on our teeth.  Fascinatingly, coke completely cleaned an old two pence coin, where as water rusted it even further – who would have thought!  Also, the effect coke had on an egg was disgusting!

We all also thoroughly enjoyed showing off our superb homemade experiments in the Science Fair – thank you to all the help that went into this at home!
