Just keep Swimming!

On Saturday 10th March St.James’ entered the Bournemouth Primary school swimming gala competing against  23 other schools from Bournemouth.

The teams were made up from Year 5 and 6 girls and boys.

We had a mixed set of results coming overall 3rd in Year 5 and overall 7th in Year 6. There were some very positive results and some unfortunate disqualifications.

Holly won her Year 6 girl’s 50m backstroke and there were relay successes for the girl’s Year 5 medley relay team of Laras, Rhianna, Jemima and Sarah, and also the Year 6 girl’s freestyle relay team of Holly, Sienna, Esme and Poppy, additionally the Year 6 girl’s medley relay team of Esme, Jess, Holly and Sienna.

All are crowned Town champions and we are extremely proud of you all.

A special mention must go to the Year 6 boy’s swim team, who were made up mainly of volunteers who wanted to represent the school. Harry, Ben, Dan and Hugo. However, Hugo got an injury on the day of the gala and Lucas stepped in to help the team. To his credit, Hugo came along to show his support – a gesture worth noting on a Saturday night (thanks to Mum too).

A big thank you to Mrs Garel-Jones and Mrs Stonier for volunteering to help our children for 5 hours on a Saturday.

The full list of results can be found on the swim Bournemouth website or follow the link https://uk.teamunify.com/SubTabGeneric.jsp?team=reczzsb&_stabid_=152249

Well done to all the kids and thanks to the adults giving up their Saturday evening. It was an exciting event, great to watch and run with military precision!
