Letters to Tesco – The Update!

We’ve got mail…

As you may recall, a couple of weeks ago Year 4 wrote letters to Tesco to tell of our dismay at how many of their products contain Palm Oil. This followed on from our learning in our project ‘Why Should We Care?’ in which we focused on the devastating impact deforestation has on our world. If you would like to reread the original update, please use the link at the bottom of this post.

Just before half term we were thrilled to receive a reply from Tesco. They were very impressed with our passionate letters and were able to explain how they ensure their products come from sustainable sources. In fact, they even said that they would share our letters with their Responsible Sourcing team! You can see a full copy of the letter received below.

This capped off what was a really successful, purposeful learning adventure for our team. Writing a letter is a real life skill and it has been amazing for the children to see the whole process of drafting and writing a letter, stamping an envelope and posting it in a letter box to finally receiving a response.

Our project last half term was called ‘Why Should We Care?’ and work such as this has really answered that question!
