In the week before half term the children enjoyed sharing the story ‘Supertato’ and inevitably this book got our taste buds watering so on Wednesday afternoon we decided to do some food tasting! The children enjoyed sampling a variety of fruit and vegetables such as yellow pepper, potato, sweetcorn, carrot, tomato and beetroot. We discussed the smell, taste and texture of each food and talked about how each one was grown. The children were very knowledgeable and we were really proud of all of them for sampling the choices available. The most popular vegetable was the sweetcorn and unsurprisingly not many of the children were keen on the beetroot! After trying the food we used the information to create a barchart to show the most popular fruit and Veg in Reception.
