For those of us who have had our heads in the luddite clouds, this week has seen a MAJOR development in the world of online gaming. And by MAJOR, we mean earth shatteringly distracting and attracting for the gaming community. A huge new release of the massively popular game ‘Fortnite’ has been released, following much hype and a specially promoted, countdown event where the game went offline for two days after the whole game world (the map) seemed to fold in on itself and be consumed in a giant black hole. Cue much excitement, gnashing of teeth, speculation and intrigue from, well, the whole gaming world, which will include many of our own children (although technically they are not old enough to be playing it as it is a 13+…)
Given the ‘significance’ of this event and its pull on young minds, we felt it appropriate to share the following poster for your information – we are not condoning the playing of the game, but if it is happening, then like much of your child’s internet use, it is very wise to educate yourself and understand what it is they are playing. We hope it is helpful.
