St. James’ are officially an ecobrick community! What is an ecobrick you ask?! Well… ecobricks are plastic bottles filled with any plastic waste which is not recyclable, these are then used to make modular furniture, garden spaces, walls and even full-scale buildings. This all started during our inspiring and motivating whole school topic in September… ‘St. James’ Saves the World’.  We had some fantastic guest speakers such as Sobo Wasterbusters and Leave Only Footprints that inspired many of us to kick off the collection of ecobricks and Madrid classroom is now overflowing with them.

We now are beginning to log our ecobricks onto GoBrik allows communities to give value to packed plastic in order to keep it from becoming pollution. It is enabling us to log our ecobricks and track the amount of plastic that we have kept and will continue to keep out of the environment. We also plan to use our very own ecobricks within our school grounds… so, watch this space!

Thank you to all children, parents and staff who have contributed and continue to do so!
