Dear Parents and Pupils,
World Book Day is coming!
World Book Day 2018 is on Thursday 1st March and we are looking forward to having a day of fun and reading based activities together. Reading is such a crucial part of education and we want to enjoy a day which encourages all of our children to immerse themselves in a book and learn to love reading.
We would like to invite everyone to come into school on that day dressed as a word from a book! It could be as simple as ‘happy’ or ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ or even ‘banana!’ Or you could try to be really inventive and choose an amazing adjective from your favourite book –the choice is yours – we are keener that everyone is able to join in and have fun than the complexities of a costume.
During the day, we will be sharing our favourite books so please encourage your child to bring in a favourite book if they would like to.
After the success of last year’s event, we would also like to invite all children to a ‘Books at Bedtime’ event. Children would leave school at normal time and then return at 6 o’clock (in PJs if they wish) to listen to a bedtime story read by a teacher. Parents are very welcome to browse through our collection of books in our lovely new library whilst the children enjoy their stories. The event should finish by 6.45pm and there will be an opportunity to give a donation to buy books for our partner school in Malawi if you wish to contribute.
