Have your say – this will affect you and your family!!  The following information has been provided to us by Bournemouth Borough Council:

The nine principal councils in Dorset are collectively undertaking a public consultation about local government reorganisation.

Compared to the government funding received in 2010/2011, the nine councils in Dorset now receive £142 million less each year towards running local services, with more cuts expected in the future, so we need to make further savings.

Our response to this is to re-think the way we are structured in the future, as a way of reducing costs and so protecting services from even greater cuts beyond 2019. We want to be able to better access Government funding and promote our areas for inward investment, growing the economy and improving the quality of life for residents.

To this end, we are considering reducing the number of Dorset local authorities from nine to two. Opinion Research Services are running the consultation on behalf of all nine councils.

We are encouraging organisations to read the information document and complete the consultation questionnaire, which is available at www.opinionresearch.co.uk/DorsetOpenConsultation

Alternatively, you can send email submissions to ORS at Dorsetcouncils@ors.org.uk.

The consultation closes on Tuesday 25 October 2016.
