This morning we gathered in the hall for an emotional farewell to Mrs Duce and Mrs Jones, both of whom have served the children and our community with dedication and total commitment.  The children read out tributes that they had written themselves, we sang personalised songs and the staff finished the assembly with another Mrs Dodd special – a Christmas Medley that was personalised to both of our imminent retirees.  The children even joined together in a chorus of ‘dab, dab, dab’ to pressure the staff into a mass ‘dab’ while they were on stage!

Although they were emotional, Mrs Jones held herself together until the postman arrived, just on time, to deliver an amazing personal message and certificate signed by the manager and first team from Mrs Jones’ beloved Leeds United football team!  Bye bye Mrs Jones and Mrs Duce, we all wish you a wonderful retirement.

Thank you for making my last day at St James’ so special. Everything about the assembly was fabulous and to hear over 400 children singing along to ‘Marching on Together’ was amazing- it was almost like being at Elland Road! I will miss you all. x

As we said, Mrs Jones, almost like being at Elland Road, but with four times the number of people…!! Enjoy your retirement!
