Laying down the law!

Year 6 have had an exciting start to the term with a two day mini project on the rule of law.  First, we had a visit from a Cambridge law student, Jonny Dodd, who explained all about the legal system in Britain and then we had our own mock trial where Jonny presided as the judge in the very tricky case of Smith vs Dodd and ‘ Who ate the cheese?’

All of year 6 were involved. We had roles from very studious jurors, top barristers, hard working solicitors, court clerks, artists and reporters to the bailiffs who had to escort three of the witnesses (namely Mr Payne, Mr Brown and Mrs Dodd) out of the courtroom for contempt of court!

It was a great way to learn about our British values and after this, we are pretty confident that we have some budding lawyers in our midst!  Well done everyone.
