So close!

On Wednesday 20th September, the Year 6 football team played in a 6 a side tournament held at Moyles Court school.

We were drawn in group 3, alongside Talbot House, The Park and Buckholme Towers schools.

Talbot House didn’t turn up in the first game – Literally, allowing us a free game and 3 points.

Against the Park, we won 2-0 thanks to 2 goals from Dan.

Buckholme Towers were our final group opponents, and thanks to James’ hat-trick and a goal from Alfie, we emerged 4-1 winners. As a result we topped our group.

In the quarter finals, we were drawn against Forres Sandle Manor school. This was a close game finishing 0-0 at the end of normal time. Extra time awaited and thanks to Alfie not giving up on a run, managed to cross a ball for Dan to bundle the ball home, we won!

The semi finals were always going to be tough, BCS had won group 4, so were going to be daunting opponents. Despite going a goal down, a couple of goals from Alfie saw us through to the final.

Unfortunately, this story doesn’t end with victory, we lost 1-0 in the final to a better team on the day. However, we are so proud of the way our players conducted themselves throughout the whole day, and there are valuable lessons to be learned from victory as well as defeat.  Well played everyone!
