Parent Questionnaire Results

Wowee, siree!! – The results from the end of 2017 parent questionnaire have been collated and once again we must thank every contributor for the fantastic and beneficial information you have shared.  There’s a lot to absorb because 141 people completed a return and you have shared a great deal of insight.  Please click the link below to be taken to the collated results, including all of the responses to the open questions (if you fancy a bit of a read, buckle up…).

It is pleasing to see that the responses to the OFSTED questions once again show an increased majority of people who believe we are doing a positive job, which is the third time that this has happened in a row.  I would like to pay tribute to the fantastic staff team at St. James’, where every individual’s hard work and dedication commits them to go ‘over and above’ to make the experience for every child as brilliant as it can be.  It is equally true, however, that some of the improvements we have made have come about as a result of your engagement, feedback and support, so thank you for being a part of this continued drive to be the best we can be.

Already in motion, in some cases directly as a consequence of feedback:

  • We’re looking into ways that you can sign up for clubs online, or fill out forms electronically rather than having to print them out.
  • We’re investigating online payments (the sticking point here is mostly the additional expense of the individual ‘transaction costs’ and how those can be absorbed without increasing the burden on school or you, but we’ll get there…)
  • We trialled a way of sharing pupil progress information with parents more regularly with a small group in September.  We hope to move this forward soon.
  • Marvellous Me – yes, we also know that we haven’t been as consistent.  We’re still trying to get it right and hope that we have a better, more measured approach this term that will work better.
  • Communication – hopefully you are aware of the ongoing work of our Communication Project Focus group and our ambitions.
  • Year Group pages should now almost always be updated at the end of the school day on Friday for every year group, and look ahead to the following week
  • and more to come, but some of you said you like shorter emails/ website posts, so that’s enough for now.  We’ll keep you posted with new updates in the future.

Thank you once again to everyone who took part.
