On Wednesday 31st January, a team of nimble netballers took to the courts at BSG for the Bournemouth netball tournament. 8 girls were selected to represent St James’ who all played excellently with a positive attitude throughout all matches. We could not be prouder of these girls who behaved like perfect sportswomen, with excellent match etiquette and support for other schools.
Firstly, we played Muscliffe where we won 11-0. Next, we played Kingsleigh where we won 4-0. We then had further success playing against Hillview (7-1) and St Michael’s (2-1). We were then delighted to find out that we had qualified to go through to the semi-finals, playing against St Katharine’s. This was a very tense match! The girls got off to an excellent start, scoring 2 goals in the first 2 minutes. By half time, we were leading 2-1. Throughout the second half, St Katharine’s managed to equalise and we ended the game 3-3. Unfortunately, due to an added 2 minutes of play, St Katharine’s managed to score an extra 4 goals and therefore won the opportunity to play in the final. Finally, we went on to play Bethany, where we won 5-3 to achieve third place.
After a very cold and tense afternoon of fantastic netball playing, the girls left the tournament feeling very proud of their achievement and blessed to have had the opportunity to take part in the tournament.
