As part of Bishop Jonathan’s visit to our school and St. James’ Church this week, School Council reps from Year 3,4, and 5 accompanied him and Rev. John to The Food Bank at St. George’s Church, Boscombe.
Here, we spent an interesting morning learning about the importance of such a food bank, how it helps our local community and how our contributions help others.
We checked and sorted food according to date and made up baskets of food to be delivered. We all thoroughly enjoyed using a shopping list to identify food items and then locating these foods on shelves and packing them.
We all agreed we would like to volunteer to help at the Food Bank more often. It was a great learning opportunity for us all and a very inspiring morning.
