Throwback Thursday!  At the end of the last academic year, Year 1 spent the morning at the beach and were very excited to be accompanied by their Year 6 Buddies. It was lovely to see the children spend some quality time with their buddies with whom they have made fantastic relationships with over the years. Some of the Year 6 children were even kind enough to carry their buddies’ bags for them on their walk to the beach! Once there, the children enjoyed completing a scavenger hunt and also worked in teams to create sand sculptures. We saw brilliant team work, creativity and independence.

We were lucky to be joined by Tim the Lifeguard who gave the children a very informative talk and showed them some of the equipment that he uses. After eating our lunch (and finding our shoes and socks, which was quite a challenge amongst 120 pairs!), we walked back to school to enjoy a special treat – ice lollies! Thank you to all the parents who gave up their day to help walk the children to the beach and supervise activities, we could not have gone without you, and we hope that all of our intrepid ex pupils from Year 6 have had a great few days at the start of their secondary school journey.  We will miss you!
