Year 6 had a fascinating time visiting a local church to learn all about the ‘Sleepsafe’ project and the Bournemouth Foodbank before half term. As well as learning all about the ways those who are sleeping rough can be helped , we learnt about nutrition and what makes up a good package for families from the foodbank. We even had to use our maths skills to calculate all the use by dates and ensure that everything was unpacked and stored in the correct order from all the Harvest contributions. We also thought about the human hierarchy of needs and what was important to all of us in terms of both physical and psychological needs – sometimes someone to talk to is what you need the most.
A fantastic educational visit which really helped us to learn more about our local community, keeping healthy and citizenship.
