Year 6 learnt some real military skills when they had a training session with Petty Officer Luke Dodd of Bournemouth School Combined Cadet Force.
We were soon shipshape and ready to be on alert at the call of ‘Squad, Squad Ho, ‘ and we managed to march on the left foot and swing our arms in the right pattern as well as ‘stand at ease ‘ and to ‘attention.’ It was a bit trickier trying to march as one unit and all go in the same direction and we certainly felt some empathy with the men who joined up to fight in WWI who would have had to learn all those skills pretty quick smart.
