Last night the St. James’ Governing Body met for the first time this year for their Annual General Meeting to decide who was going to take on which roles and also to look ahead to the new academic year.  Mr Martin Leamon was again voted in as our Chair of Governors.  In this meeting we also discussed the priorities for the upcoming year, the newly forming Vision and Values that we consulted on last year and will set the direction and ambitions of our academy for the coming five years, and we also discussed the potential implications of Brexit on the school, our staff, children and the community.  We would like to highlight to everyone that we are fortunate as a school to have a wonderful family support worker, Mrs Goode, who is often on the gate at the beginning of the school day.  If you have any concerns about the possible implications of Brexit on your family then Mrs Goode is here to talk things through and possibly signpost you to other support and advice.  Our Governing Body very much understand that we are a family here at St. James’ and we have a responsibility to the whole community.

We are shortly going to be advertising for a new recruit to the Governors as well.  A vacancy for a Parent Governor has arisen and we are very keen to welcome a new, committed and interested individual who wants to do the best for our school.  You don’t have to know about education, the first and most important responsibility is your commitment to the improvement and thriving of the St. James’ family.  If this tempts you, please don’t be shy and put yourself forwards when we send out the application forms soon.  If you’d like to chat about the role informally, then Mr Payne will be happy to talk to you or the office can put you in touch with Mr Leamon.  Please look out for the information coming soon.
