On Thursday 10th October, our Year 5 football team took part in the Predator Football tournament against 17 other Bournemouth schools.

We were placed in Group 6 alongside Moordown St. John’s, Winton Primary, St. Mark’s, Pokesdown and St. Peter’s. Only the group winners would progress into a round robin final group.

We beat Moordown 1-0, thanks to a second half goal from Luke.

In our next game, we beat Winton 3-1, with Alfie, Noah and Harry all scoring.

St. Mark’s saw Noah grabbing a hattrick in a 3-0 success.

Game 4 against Pokesdown was 4-0 with Noah grabbing a brace and Nicholas and Alfie also contributing to the scoring.

Our final group game was against St. Peter’s and despite going behind early we came back to draw 1-1, after Alfie scored.

This meant that we had topped the group with 13 points, thanks to some great defending from George, Jack and Toby and some great saves from Ollie.

In the final group of 3 we faced Avonwood and St. Katharine’s who had also topped their groups.

St. Katharine’s beat Avonwood 2-0, and we played Avonwood next. With Noah and Alfie scoring, we won 2-0. This meant that the final game would decide the overall champions of Bournemouth.

Despite a valiant effort, our team who was extremely tired conceded a long range effort from the St. Katharine’s midfielder, and despite playing brilliantly in a very even contest, we lost 1-0.

This meant that the boys finished runners up – a no mean feat!

We are incredibly proud of the attitude and teamwork displayed by all, and some of the football was a joy to watch, with many ‘team’ goals, showing their ability to pass and move.

Well done to all, especially our supportive parents who cheered us on throughout!
