Well, what a day we had! The second the children came bursting through the door in their awesome explorer outfits we knew we were in for a memorable occasion and it certainly didn’t disappoint…
Initially the children were split into four groups and throughout the morning had a whole host of different experiences; packing suitcases, building tents, making fires and even gutting fish – yes, gutting fish!
And, just when you thought our day couldn’t get any more amazing, we learnt traditional campfire songs and sang them around a real campfire! During this time we also tried the freshly barbecued fish we had gutted earlier in the day and it must be said how impressive so many children were in trying a new food.
This also was on top of recent lessons where we learnt how to use compasses, tie knots and do basic first aid. All of this has helped us to become intrepid explorers ready for our sleepover extravaganza, what a brilliant project Be Prepared has been!
