As part of our scientific learning on microorganisms, Year 6 carried out an experiment to investigate the properties of yeast and explore how it reacts with sugar.

We brought in already used bottles from home and put yeast and warm water into them. The variable was the amount of sugar ( though we have a little work to do on our scientific recording of exact quantities!) and we used a different amount in each bottle. Waiting and watching to see if the balloons would expand was an exciting time and we were able to draw conclusions about the reaction that took place even if the classroom did smell rather interesting by the end of the day!

A fascinating experiment about a fascinating and clever micro organism!
