These are not my words, and clearly we would have tried a bit harder to make sure that capital letters etc. were in the right place, but we know very well that Christmas can be a stressful time alongside all the expectations and demands/dreams of our wonderful children.
What is attached is SUCH an important message to share and we are a little cross that we haven’t thought about doing so before, so we are thankful to the anonymous teacher who wrote it.
Christmas, more than any other holiday, is about shared experiences with the people children love. It may seem like the presents etc. are the number one deal, but in the LONG TERM, that film that you watch together in onesies with popcorn and a fizzy drink, the time you spend trying to bake a cake, the silly films you make on your phones, the family walk, the facetime or phone calls to relatives (and every other iteration of these connections between us) is what will define your child’s Christmas in their memory forever. It is what they talk to us about.
We will all stress about Christmas, we’re sure, it’s normal and natural, but fundamentally Christmas is a celebration about the birth of a child.
We are all now in a position where we also have such children and we’d like to celebrate them throughout our Christmas holidays, so please feel free to share pictures of your ‘family moments’ to christmas@stjamescebournem
We’re very much looking forward to seeing our extended family at work during the break. Merry Christmas!!
