Happy New Year everyone! It has been wonderful to see all of the children coming back to school, full of smiles, stories and energy ready for the new term. We have really enjoyed hearing about all of your wonderful Christmas activities! On Monday, the whole staff team got stuck into one of our training days where we had the chance to reflect, review and prepare – all focussed on being the best that we can be. Over the last four terms we have been developing our approach to the curriculum and in the final weeks before the holiday we pulled all of this work together to develop a new whole school curriculum map. The purpose of this map is to lay out a logical and evolutionary path of learning so that subject links can be made, children build skillsets and their knowledge, capacity and independence increases all the time as they journey through our school. One of the main aims of our work on Monday was to explore this new plan, start to put some meat onto its bones and remind ourselves of what we are trying to achieve for all children.
We also spent time thinking about what it means to be a teacher, the weighty responsibility that we have and how we can ensure that every time we engage with children we make an impact on their development and help to shape their future lives for the better. It was a great day and we all came out at the end with a new spring in our step and a determination to make this the best term yet…! Let’s GO!!!
