On Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 5 traveled back in time and became GROOVY GREEKS!
To begin the day we were put into 5 teams (Argos, Athens, Corinth, Sparta and Troy) and created wreaths to show which team we belonged in. We competed in our own Olympics and competed in a relay, running and javelin event. We then delved into the mythical world of myths and created some freeze frames based on the five myths we read. We introduced the drama skill of thought tracking and as we were frozen as a character we were questioned about three different things:
In the afternoon, we watched Percy Jackson and The Lightening Thief. We are going to be using this film as inspiration to create our own mythical creatures, our own hero and to create an exciting, climatic, twisting and turning story line.
On Wednesday, we held our very own Greek Banquet! We tasted green and black olives, feta cheese, figs, hummus, white and wholemeal pitta bread and Greek yogurt. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and everyone tried something they had never had before! Our brave Greeks!
Thank you to everyone at home for all the hard work to make the fantastic costumes! We looked fantastic!!
Thank you for the continued support!
