We have been exploring the world of mini beasts in EYFS. We have found out more about them and had a go at so many other things too.
We loved hearing the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’. We loved it so much we carried on reading and retelling the story with puppets and using the book too:
We also wrote about all the funny things the caterpillar ate. We were not surprised he had a tummy ache after eating it all.
We had a go at creating our own butterflies by painting one side and then folding it to show the symmetry butterflies have.
We have learnt a bit more about the lifecycle of a butterfly and used pasta to show it.
We are very excited about having our own caterpillars visiting. We have watched them grow and now they are chrysalises. We have loved watching them and cannot wait to see them reappear as butterflies and let them fly away.
We have also enjoyed making our own mini beasts by rolling and cutting shapes out of playdough.
We’ve had a go at making some more crazy freestyle bugs too!
One of our favourite places to be over the last few weeks is in our ‘Mini beast Lab’ role play areas. We have been scientists studying the insects and finding out more.
We have had lots of fun playing and learning about mini beasts!
