In Year 5, we have been learning all about the coasts and we are loving it! The children have really put a huge amount of effort into their work, this enthusiasm for learning has particularly shown in our Geography lessons.

In these lessons, we have been describing and understanding key aspects of human and physical geography and how these have changed over time. Since we are fortunate enough to live right beside the beautiful beaches of Bournemouth, we began by exploring the human and physical features of our very own home town. Leading on from this, the children then compared and contrasted an area of South America with our local area.

Most recently, the children had the opportunity to research two very different natural (physical) geographical areas… The Amazon Rainforest and the New Forest! After using their ICT skill to gather information on both these locations, the children then produced presentations – either on paper or as a PowerPoint – which compares the similarities and differences between the two areas.

They have really produced some fantastic work. Have a look at some of the brilliant PowerPoints Year 5 have made through combining their new knowledge and understanding with brilliant ICT and research skills.
