St James Open Morning: Saturday 5th November, 10am – 12pm. Come and see the wonderful things St. James’ has to offer.
As part of our ‘Mighty Monarchy’ project, Year 4 took part in a residential stay at Hooke Court. We learnt all about the terrifying Tudors and fully immersed ourselves in Tudor life. We had such a wonderful time and we couldn’t be more proud of the brilliant Year 4 children. Here’s what we got up to…
On Wednesday, we were raring to go and excited to get into our rooms and find out our room mates. We then went on an investigation of the manor house and learnt all about it’s history. Lady Elizabeth taught us all about trading and we created our own ships with sails, which we later went on to sail on the river. We finished the day with free time where some of us chose to engage in calm colouring, whereas others had a (very muddy!) game of football. Finally, we had our dinner and listened to a story in our pajamas!
On Thursday, we started the day with breakfast before embarking on a full day of Tudor activities. We spent some time in the Tudor classroom where we learnt all about calligraphy, weaving and created pockets. We then baked our own Tudor treats and created our own candles.
In the evening, we got dressed up and ready for a Tudor banquet- look how great we all look! Finally, we had a wonderful campfire and spent the evening singing campfire songs that we couldn’t get out of our heads- what a fun packed day!
