It’s been a month of success for St James’ Sport and we are delighted to have been awarded a Gold School Games Award. Mrs Finnigan’s passion for all things PE and providing as many sporting opportunities as possible has been officially recognised and we are delighted to have this validation of our love of sport.
June also saw the return of the spectacular St James’ Sports Day which has been sadly absent from the calendar since 2019! We love our Sports Day when we take over Kings Park Athletic Stadium for the day and enjoy the atmosphere that this brings! It was so amazing to be back together as the St James’ family celebrating all things sporting. A big thank you to all those who were able to come and support.
In Key Stage 1, the children took part in a circuit of events on the track that included a slalom, ladders and beanbags before then taking part in the track events .
In Key Stage 2, the children undertook the more traditional field events first with long jump, high jump and shot putt before then taking part in the track events which included the hurdles, sprints and some middle distance races. Even the teachers gave it a good go with a hard fought relay race but it was brilliant to be able to see everyone taking part and our sporting stars being rightfully proud of their skills and achievements.
A fantastic day was had by all, with Matthew taking the overall winning title!
