As an exciting start to our Explorers project this term, Year 1 became explorers and had a quick trip to Australia!
The children were all given passports and a boarding pass before asking to board the St James’ airlines to Australia!
The children were very excited! We brought the experience to life by creating an aeroplane shaped seating area in the classroom, whilst watching a simulation of a pilot taking flight. We offered refreshments before landing whilst the children could see the plane flying through the clouds. We landed in Australia safely!
As explorers, we discovered what Australia looks like through Google Earth and compared it with Bournemouth.
The children enjoyed making their passports of themselves and were amazed with how far away Australia is to England.
