When we arrived, we did some investigating of actual Victorian artefacts and also of the main Manor House to learn about its history. We then spent the evening doing some traditional Victorian pass time activities of quilling and decoupage.

On our first full day, we had our Victorian day where we dressed up in our costumes. Throughout the day we took part in a range of activities including Victorian school where we did cross stitching, ink writing, polishing shoes and silver and also learning how to set the table. We also did some traditional Victorian baking of scones, gingerbread and Dorset apple cake, and learnt how to do the laundry the old fashioned way! In the evening, we enjoyed a traditional banquet of a three course meal which was very delicious indeed! We ended our wonderful Victorian day with a campfire, telling some jokes and singing some very catchy songs!

On our final day, we took part in some team building activities where we had to learn to work together to complete lots of different activities.

It was a fantastic trip and lots of learning was done about the Victorians and the children came away with some super knowledge! Also lots of new friendships were made and it was lovely to see these blossom!

The children set up their stalls outside, and, much to everyone’s relief, the rain held off just long enough for the event to go ahead. With the help of families and staff, who baked an incredible range of cakes, biscuits, and sweet treats. 

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated, helped organise, or came along to buy a treat. Your support means so much to the children, and it will make a real difference. The total amount raised was £237.95.

Throughout the day the children got to enjoy a range of activities including: soup making, first aid, den building and forest school!

It was lovely to see the children working across year groups with Year 4 showing Year 2 how to carry out some activities and supporting the younger children.

This week, Year 5 travelled back in time to Ancient Greece for our very own Greek Day! It was a day full of fun, food, and friendly competition.

We started the day by learning all about the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece. Did you know the first Olympics were held over 2,000 years ago in Olympia, and only men were allowed to compete? Luckily, in our version, everyone could join in!

Soon it was time for our very own Mini Olympics. In true Greek style, we competed in running races, discus, javelin, sprints and long jump. The excitement was electric, and just like in Ancient Greece, we cheered loudly for our classmates. Winners were celebrated with a grand ceremony – and of course, a crown of leaves to show off their victory!

No Greek day would be complete without delicious food. We got to taste a range of traditional Greek flavours, from olives and pitta bread to juicy grapes and creamy dips. Some of us were brave enough to try foods we had never eaten before – and we even gave out star ratings for our favourites. At lunchtime, our school dinners were specially transformed into a Greek menu prepared by Relish, giving us the full experience of Greek food throughout the day.

We also became young architects for the day, studying the three different types of Greek columns – Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. It was amazing to see how these designs are still used in buildings today! We even learned about the co-architects of the Parthenon, Ictinus and Callicrates, who worked together to create one of the most famous buildings in the world.

To finish, we created our own wreath headpieces, just like the winners of the Ancient Olympic Games. With leaves, ribbons, and lots of imagination, everyone left school looking like true Greek champions.

It was an amazing day where we learned loads, laughed lots, and discovered what life was like in Ancient Greece. Opa!

Our brilliant Year 5 and 6 dodgeball team have mad us very proud, representing the school at the British Dodgeball National Schools Finals in Stoke-on-Trent!

Their incredible journey began with victory at the county round, securing their place at the regional finals, where they battled their way through to qualify for the national stage. Out of hundreds of schools across the country, our team officially finished joint 9th in the UK – an outstanding achievement!

Finals day started bright and early with an upbeat and excited team. The atmosphere was buzzing and our players showed determination, skill, and amazing teamwork throughout the day. They faced incredibly tough opponents, including teams with players who compete regularly outside of school, but still managed to pose a serious challenge in every match. Many games were incredibly close, showing just how competitive and capable our team truly is.

It was a day filled with pride, passion, and unforgettable memories – a brilliant experience for all involved. A huge well done to the entire dodgeball team for their fantastic performance, great sportsmanship, and for representing the school with such enthusiasm and resilience. We are so proud of you all!

Recently, our hall was transformed into a vibrant Homework Museum, and what a fantastic showcase it was! We were thrilled to welcome so many parents into school to explore the incredible learning journey our pupils have been on last term.

Each subject had its own dedicated table, beautifully set up with books, displays, and hands-on examples of the children’s work. From the moment you stepped in, it was clear just how much effort, creativity, and curiosity our pupils have poured into their learning.

Some highlights from the museum included:

• Science investigations – from exciting experiments to detailed observations and write-ups.

• Cave art masterpieces – inspired by our history topic, showing real skill and imagination.

• Aerodynamic rockets – cleverly constructed using… biscuits!

• Mathematics in action – with children demonstrating how they use manipulatives to deepen their understanding of key concepts.

It was a joy to see the children so proud of their work and eager to share it with their families. Thank you to all the parents who joined us and made the event so special – your support means so much to the children and staff alike.

We can’t wait to do it all again next time!

We are absolutely thrilled to launch our brand-new Sailing Club, based at Shoresports in the beautiful Christchurch Harbour. This exciting opportunity gives our pupils the chance to take to the water and develop a wide range of skills through hands-on experience. Whether sailing solo or working together in pairs, the children are learning to harness the wind and take control of their own boats in one of the most scenic locations on the south coast.

Our sessions take place on sunny, breezy days—perfect conditions for young sailors to thrive. With expert instructors guiding them every step of the way, pupils are gaining confidence on the water and quickly developing their sailing technique. The freedom of being out on the open water is matched only by the joy on their faces as they glide across the harbour.

To keep things fun and challenging, the children also take part in sailing games—one favourite is "collect the ducks," where they must navigate their boats to scoop up floating rubber ducks from the water. It may sound easy, but it’s incredibly tricky! It requires sharp coordination, precise control, and a good bit of patience—often resulting in plenty of giggles and determination in equal measure.

Sailing isn’t just about technique and teamwork—it’s also about resilience. Our young sailors are learning to stay calm under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and bounce back when things don’t go quite to plan. It’s a wonderful metaphor for life, and we’re proud to see our pupils rising to the challenge.

We couldn’t be more excited to see this club growing and flourishing. It’s a unique and unforgettable experience that’s already proving to be a highlight of the school year!

The day was packed with exciting activities: Kahoot times table battles, an escape room task, a carousel of hands-on times table challenges outside, and some fantastic live music as children brought in their instruments to perform. It was awesome to hear their songs adding a creative beat to the day! 🎶

Huge shoutout to all the Year 4 rockstars for their energy, enthusiasm, and brilliant times table skills! Keep on rocking those tables! 🤘✨

The children loved talking about their recent trip to Hooke Court, showing a practical model of the digestive system, testing parents on their times tables, programming the microbits, teaching parents to cross stitch and so much more!

Thank you to all the parents that were able to attend. The parent feedback was extremely positive and we are glad that you were able to enjoy all the children's learning from the last term. 

Working together, using great communication and channelling our inner champions, we managed to sail through to the semi-finals. This was our toughest match, but we still managed to win 6-4. We then won the final with a fantastic score of 6-4.

It was a day we will never forget - especially as this means we are now off to Bristol in the summer for regionals!

We also explored the self-learning areas - we were able to find our school from space and even feel how heavy a tin of beans would be on each planet!

We had the most amazing day, full of astonishing facts and magnificent learning. 

The children have looked at a range of different resources, as well as focusing on how to conduct interviews to get opinions on this issue.

Year 4 created their own interview questions on plastic pollution, ensuring that they are open ended, allowing the interviewee to give explanation to their answer. Using the questions they created, Year 4 interviewed Year 6 on plastic pollution to gather information on their opinions on the matter. b

Both Year 4 and Year 6 collaborated really well for this task and it was lovely to see the children working across year groups.

We had a fantastic time tasting all the different foods and immersing ourselves in the culture. We then filled out a taste card where we rated what we had eaten and why. It was interesting to hear why the children liked some foods and not others.
