Mexican Afternoon
At the end of last term, Amazon and Nile class had an unforgettable Mexican afternoon! We were honoured to have a lovely Mexican lady called Alex visit our school, bringing with her the vibrant flavours and rich culture of Mexico.
Alex treated us to an array of delicious Mexican food that she prepared herself. The children were thrilled to try authentic dishes like tacos, red and green salsa and Tinga, (a chicken dish). Their faces lit up with excitement as they explored these new and tasty flavours. It was a culinary adventure that transported us to the heart of Mexico.
Through an engaging PowerPoint, Alex introduced us to the diverse and colourful festivals that are celebrated in her home country. The children learnt about the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Cinco De Mayo and many other important cultural events. They were completely engaged throughout and eager to learn more about the traditions and customs of Mexico.
The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for the children to broaden their horizons and gain a deeper understanding of another culture and bring together all we have been learning in the classroom about Mexico.
A big thank you to our delightful guest Alex for sharing her culture and cuisine with us. This Mexican afternoon was a highlight of our term, and we look forward to many more cultural adventures in the future.
