Year 5 Make Pitta Bread

Year 5 have been busy developing their Design and Technology skills by making their own pitta bread, linking to our exciting Greek project!
We began by learning about the process of making bread, focusing on the important stages of kneading and proving. Everyone had the opportunity to get hands-on and have a go at kneading the dough, learning how this helps to develop the bread’s texture.
Once our dough was ready, we cooked our pitta breads in the school ovens and waited as they transformed into delicious, freshly baked bread!
Finally, we put our taste-testing skills to the test! We sampled our homemade pitta bread and wrote evaluations, reflecting on how well our bread turned out, what we enjoyed and what we might do differently next time.
We had a fantastic time combining our DT skills with our learning about Greece, and we were very proud of our tasty results!
