Year 2
Week Beginning 28th September 2026
What a wonderful week of learning we have had in Year 2 this week. The children have been working hard on creating setting descriptions for their own 'Adventure Island', including adjectives and conjunctions to make their writing really exciting to read. We have continued with our new Little Wandle reading practice sessions and the children are engaging so well in these lessons. We hope you have enjoyed hearing your child reading with expression and fluency at home. Thank you for returning their books on Thursday, we will continue to send home new books on a Friday.
Amazon class continue their Forest School sessions on Tuesday next week. Please remember to send your child into school in their PE kit on Tuesday. Nile class begin their sessions for 3 weeks on Tuesday 6th October.
This year, instead of Parent Information Evenings, we have made a welcome video.
Learning this week:
English - To celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 1st October, we will be looking at a poem called, 'Who Has Seen the Wind?' written by Christina Rossetti.
Maths - We will move on to comparing numbers within 100 using inequality symbols.
Computing - We will continue our unit on coding.
History - We will be working to identify the human and physical features of Poole.
Science - We will be learning about how exercise keeps humans’ bodies in good condition and helps to increase length of life.
PE - We will continue our unit on fundamentals by understanding how we change direction and dodge.
RE - We will be continuing our unit on Gospel.
Worship Theme This Week:
Our worship theme this week is: Harvest
Parents are warmly invited to join us in church for our Harvest festival on Thursday 1st october at 9am.

PE days in Year 2 are Fridays - please remember to send your child into school every Friday in their PE kit.

Thursday 1st October – Harvest Festival in church. 9am: Infant school (EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2)
