Year 2

Week Beginning 14th July 2025

We cannot believe that we are in the last full week of the year! It really has flown by! The children were amazed by the 'Rock Steady' performance! It was such an enjoyable session!

English

Next week, the children will be reading the story, 'The Rainbow Weaver'. They will be writing their own narrative based on this story.

Maths

In Maths, the children will be continuing to learn all about statistics. They will understand how block graphs and pictograms can be used to process data.

Phonics

The children will be revisiting all the sounds and spelling patterns that we have learnt over the year.

Key Information:

Please aim to read with your child at home three times per week, as they will earn a reading raffle ticket for every three reads! In school, an adult will read with your child once per week and change their Rhino Reader book once each week too. In addition, children have ownership over their 'sharing book', which they can change themselves and pick which book they'd like to read.

We are trying to boost vocabulary within our writing in Year 2, so if you come across any powerful vocabulary whilst reading with your child, please ask them to note it in their reading record.
