Year 2
Week Beginning 15th September 2025
Welcome back! We have had such a fantastic week getting to know our new classes and we are so proud of how they have adapted to life in Year 2. We have spent this week learning all about where our class names come from and learning the new routines of Year 2.
Key Information:
Our PE days this year are on Thursdays.
We will be holding our parents' information evening on Monday, the 15th of September at 3:30 p.m and we look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to your child's new classroom.
We have Forest School this term. Please can children come in their PE kits on Tuesday (Amazon) and Wednesday (Nile).
Next week's learning
Maths - We will be starting our first unit on place value. We will be learning how to count objects to 100 by making 10s and recognise tens and ones.
English - We will be starting our new Talk for Writing unit where we will be learning how to use adjectives and conjunctions when writing a description
Phonics - We will be using the sound 'y' saying 'igh'
Science - We will be learning what humans and animals need to survive
RE - We will be learning how Christians describe God and his creations
History - To know that the first scout camp took place on Brownsea Island (1907) and still takes place in the present day
Geography - To understand where Poole harbour is located
This week's spellings - 'y' as 'igh'
