Year 2
Week Beginning 21st September 2026
Last week, we sent home with the children their reading record and their current reading book. Please make sure that their reading book is returned before the following Thursday. Any further details are outlined in the letter which you'll find in their folder containing their reading book and reading record. Alternatively, if you are unsure, please speak to your child's class teacher.
This week Amazon class continue their Forest School sessions on Tuesday for the next 2 weeks. Please remember to send your child into school in their PE kit on a Tuesday for the next 2 weeks.
This year, instead of Parent Information Evenings, we have made a welcome video and would like to invite you and your child to see their new classroom after school on Monday 14th September.
Learning this week:
English - We will continue our unit of narrative writing with a focus on creating our own 'Adventure Island' and writing a story to go alongside
Maths - We will continue our unit on place value and focus on using number lines to show 10s and 1s
Computing - We will continue our unit on coding
History - We will be understanding the history and timeline of Brownsea Island
Science - We will be understanding that humans only grow and mature to a certain size
PE - We will continue our unit on fundamentals by understanding how we change direction and dodge
RE - We will be understanding what 'gospel' means
Worship Theme This Week:

Key Dates and Information
PE days in Year 2 are Fridays - please remember to send your child into school every Friday in their PE kit.
Amazon Forest School - Tuesday 15th September, Tuesday 22nd September, Tuesday 29th September
Nile Forest School - Tuesday 6th October, Tuesday 13th October, Tuesday 20th October
Monday 14th September - Open classrooms to meet your child's new teacher and see their new classroom (Parent information presentations will now be recorded and posted onto each year group page)
Monday 12th October - Fraser Portrait Photos
Wednesday 14th October - Year 2 and Year 4 Survival Day (your child can come dressed as an explorer if they wish)
Friday 23rd October - Break up at 3:00pm for October Half Term
