Year 2
Week Beginning 14th September 2026
Wow! We are so proud of how well the children have settled into their first full week in Year 2! We have already seen some fantastic pieces of writing and some brilliant maths learning too!
This week Amazon class begin their Forest School sessions on Tuesday for the next 3 weeks. Please remember to send your child into school in their PE kit on a Tuesday for the next 3 weeks.
On Wednesday it is National Fitness Day, please don't forget to join Miss Lunn on the playground at 8:15am for a Wake and Shake!
This year, instead of Parent Information Evenings, we have made a welcome video and would like to invite you and your child to see their new classroom after school on Monday 14th September.
Learning this week:
English - We will begin our first unit of narrative writing with a focus on description and using adjectives
Maths - We will continue our unit on place value and focus on partitioning numbers to 100
Computing - We will begin our first computing unit focusing on coding.
Art - We will be looking at tone and lighter and darker gradients
Geography - We will be locating where Poole is on a map
Science - We will be understanding what humans need to survive
PE - We will begin our unit on fundamentals by understanding how our bodies can move at different speeds
RE - We will be understanding what 'gospel' means
Worship Theme This Week:
Our worship theme this week is: The Armour of God
"Finally be strong in the Lord and in his might power. Put on the full armour of God.'

Key Dates and Information
PE days in Year 2 are Fridays - please remember to send your child into school every Friday in their PE kit.
Amazon Forest School - Tuesday 15th September, Tuesday 22nd September, Tuesday 29th September
Nile Forest School - Tuesday 6th October, Tuesday 13th October, Tuesday 20th October
Monday 14th September - Open classrooms to meet your child's new teacher and see their new classroom (Parent information presentations will now be recorded and posted onto each year group page)
Monday 12th October - Fraser Portrait Photos
Wednesday 14th October - Year 2 and Year 4 Survival Day (your child can come dressed as an explorer if they wish)
Friday 23rd October - Break up at 3:00pm for October Half Term
