Week beginning 28th September 2026
Another great week with our lovely Year 1 children. This week, the children have been fully immersed in learning about how to make 10 and identify numbers in a set in maths and have blown us away with their character descriptions of Mrs Large and her children in the story '5 minutes peace'.

• Wednesday 4th November - Year 1 Autumn Walk (Parent volunteers required)
• Tuesday 8th December (2pm and 5pm) and Wednesday 9th December (9:15 am) - Year 1 and 2 Christmas Performance
• Thursday 11th February - Stour Class Worship 
• Thursday 4th March - Bourne Class Worship
• Monday 28th June - Year 1 Beach Trip

Last week, we sent home with the children their reading records and current reading book. Please make sure this book is returned by Thursday. 

We also sent home their word walls. We will be working on these with the children over a 2-week cycle.

PE days in Year 1 are Tuesdays - please remember to send your child into school every Tuesday in their PE kit.

Learning this week:

English - We will be writing the beginning of  '5 Minutes Peace'

Maths - We will be learning to accurately use the symbols for more than, less than and equals.

Science - We will be learning how senses are important for survival.

Computing - We will begin our computing unit by completing an E-Safety unit to remind us how to stay safe online.

Art - We will be learning how to mix colours.

Phonics - We will be learning the sounds ur, ow, or, ear, air and er.
