  • Term 4 World Book Day: A Day of Fun, Creativity and Reading!

    Published 19/03/25, by Louise Jacobs

World Book Day was an absolute blast! Our school was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated our love for books with a range of fantastic activities.

Throughout the day, the school bell rang at unexpected moments, signalling everyone to “Drop Everything and Read.” Pupils quickly grabbed their books and immersed themselves in different worlds, enjoying some peaceful moments of reading.

A highlight of the day was our Reading Buddies session. Classes paired up to share their favourite books, discuss stories, and enjoy reading together. It was wonderful to see older pupils supporting younger readers and sharing their enthusiasm for books.

The biggest challenge of the day was creating a rap or song in the style of MC Grammar! Throughout the day, children worked in teams to craft creative lyrics inspired by books. At the end of the day, the whole school came together for an epic performance. We were blown away by the pupils’ songwriting skills, teamwork, and confidence on stage—so many superstars shone! The rhymes flowed, the beats dropped, and the performances were wicked!

A special moment was set aside for some of our pupils who have made fantastic progress in their reading. They were invited to gather around a campfire, sipping hot chocolate while listening to magical stories. It was a cosy, well-deserved treat and a wonderful way to celebrate their achievements.

To bring our book-filled day to a perfect close, we gathered for a Book at Bedtime event. Mr. Brown and Mrs. Dodd and shared some of their favourite stories, creating a calm atmosphere to end an exciting day.

A huge well done to everyone for making World Book Day so special! Thank you for all the efforts with the costumes too. Keep reading, keep rapping, and keep sharing your love of books!
