Week 1 in Year 4!

We had a wonderful first week back in Year 4! It was lovely to see some familiar faces and hear all about the childrens' summer holidays!

We enjoyed a whole variety of learning throughout the week, with a main focus on our water project of learning about our class names, Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria. We created fact files on our class names which involved lots of research and note taking, which the children really got the hang of! We also created some African inspired art in the style of Pointilism. The children thought carefully about their designs which linked to typical African artwork. We also ensured we used the main colours used in African artwork of red, green, yellow and black.

As well as lots of learning about our class names, we also did a few team building activities including building structures made out of spaghetti and marshmallows! Its safe to say there were a few failures to begin with, but then after a lot of trial and error, we had some successful structures!

We also introduced our new project of 'Survival' with a bush tucker trial activity, where the children had to put their hands into a box and feel around to work out what was inside! It was then revealed to them what was inside, and there were definitely a few surprised faces!
