Year 1 Trip to the New Forest Wildlife Park

As part of our 'Curious Creatures' project, Year 1 had an exciting day at the New Forest Wildlife Park.

We arrived at the New Forest Wildlife Park full of anticipation and excitement for our day ahead. We met our guide, Wendy, who took us first to see the owls. We saw, Great Grey Owls, Little Owls and even Snowy Owls. We learnt lots of interesting facts about owls, including that they have 14 bones in their neck, this is double the number of neck bones humans have!

We then encountered several types of otters. They were so cute and rather noisy too! We saw Giant Otters which live in the rivers of South America and Asian Short-Clawed Otters who were basking in the glorious sunshine!

Throughout the rest of the morning we went on to see: Fallow Deer, Harvest Mice, Scottish Wildcats, ferrets, bison and some very sleepy wallabies!

As the sun continued to shine, we had a well-deserved lunch break before having a play in the adventure playground in the afternoon. We all then headed back to the coach, exhausted by our busy day.

We all had an amazing time seeing so many different types of animals. What an experience for us all!
