Year 5 Blast Off to Winchester Science Centre! 🚀

What an out-of-this-world experience Year 5 had on their recent trip to Winchester Science Centre! Building on our exciting space topic, the children immersed themselves in a full day of discovery, curiosity and cosmic fun – and they absolutely loved every minute.

The trip followed our fantastic Space Hook Day, where pupils took part in astronaut training and tested the skills needed for life beyond Earth. From hand-eye coordination challenges to memory, reaction time and problem-solving tasks, the children approached every activity with enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork. They were more than ready to put their training to the test!

At the Science Centre, the children took part in the brilliant “Blast Off” workshop, where they explored rockets, space travel and what it really takes to become an astronaut. They asked thoughtful questions, shared their knowledge confidently and impressed the staff with their engagement and curiosity.

One of the highlights of the day was a breathtaking session in the planetarium. The children were completely captivated as they journeyed through space, learning about planets, stars and the wider universe. There were plenty of gasps, “wows” and wide-eyed moments!

Although the journey home was longer than planned (we finally arrived back at school at 7:30pm), the children were absolute stars 🌟. They remained positive, patient and well-behaved throughout – a real credit to themselves and the school. While the traffic wasn’t much fun, it certainly didn’t dampen their excitement about the day.

We are incredibly proud of how well the children represented the school and how enthusiastically they embraced every part of the experience. It was a memorable trip that truly brought our learning to life – and one we’re sure they’ll be talking about for a long time to come!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. 🚀✨
