Wonderful Writing in Year 6

We are so proud that we have so many children at St James' that love to write! We have created this blog to showcase some of the incredible pieces of work that our children have created.

Year 6: War Poetry

Our Year 6 children have been learning about World War 2 this term. This
incredibly thought-provoking topic has brought out the very best of our Year 6 writers. The children were introduced to some inspirational poets of the time and their incredibly emotional and raw poems. In particular, the children looked at ‘In Flanders Fields’ by John McCrae, ‘Dulce Et Decorum Est’ by Wilfred Owen and 'High flight’ By John Gillespie Magee Jr. Each one of these poets giving their first-person perspective on the war helped our children understand the sacrifices made and the terror felt by those who went to war.

We were so proud of what the children were able to produce and the level of understanding they were able to show. Well done Year 6!
