ELSA stands for Emotional Literacy Support Assistant and sessions are delivered by trained members of staff who receive regular training and supervision from Educational Psychologists at BCP council.

ELSA support is delivered in a block of six weekly sessions that last approximately 30 minutes although where appropriate support can continue beyond a six week block. ELSA sessions are excellent at supporting children improve their mental and emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence in themselves through fun and creative activities. ELSA TAs support the children to use these strategies beyond the sessions to support their wellbeing, with appropriate information being shared with teachers so the support can continue across the course of the week, not just within these sessions.
